Winter Storytime 2012

Registration for the Winter Storytime sessions will take place beginning on Tues. January 3, 2012. This may be done in person or by phone. Sessions are as follows:
Tues. 10:30 am    2 1/2- 3 1/2
Tues. 1:30   pm    3 1/2- 5
Thurs. 10:30 am  3 1/2- 5
Toddler Time
This program is for children 18 months- 2 1/2 with a caregiver. Sessions will take place every Wed. at 10:30 am for a half hour. Toddler Time will run for 6 weeks, registration is required and space is limited. This program is for Hillsdale residents only.

StoryTime Wrap-Up

The last week of Storytime will take place the week of Dec. 5th.  However, keep in mind, we have a huge selection of holiday books, DVD's and CD's. Whatever your pleasure, we have a book that's sure to please. Whether it's a journey on the Polar Express, or making Hanukkah latkes like Grandma. Don't hesitate to ask the children's staff for whatever you need.

Fall Storytime 2011

Fall Storytime 2011 Registration for the Fall Storytime sessions will start on Tues. Sept. 6th, 2011.

Tues. 1:30 pm 3 ½ - 5
Thurs. 10:30 am 3 ½- 5

Toddler Time 2011

This program is for children 18 months to 2 ½ with a caregiver. Sessions will take place every Wednesday at 10:30 am for 30 minutes. Toddler Time will run for 6 consecutive weeks and is limited to Hillsdale residents only.

Eyes of the Wild Program

Animal friends made a return visit to the Hillsdale Library this summer. Among the featured guests were a Vietnamese pot-belly pig, a sugar glider (a marsupial which resembles a squirrel), a 5 month old coati (a cousin to the raccoon), a large 14 year old parrot with a great vocabulary, and an 11 month old baby wallaby. All the children got the chance to pet the baby wallaby after the show. This educational and fun program is a perrennial favorite.

Summer Reading Party

Our annual Summer Reading Party will take place on Tues. Aug. 16th, at 2:00 PM featuring a magic show by Brian Richards. All are invited to attend and summer reading club participants who finished the program will receive their certificates. Refreshments will be served courtesy of ShopRite of Hillsdale.

Summer Reading Update:

Just a reminder: The LAST day to log-in summer reading club books is Sat. Aug. 13th. In order to receive your certificate at the club party, please make sure all requirements are finished. Any questions please email Cindy at greenwald@bccls.org.

The Lizard Guys Program

Children were treated to a performance of reptiles and amphibians courtesy of "The Lizard Guys." Everyone had a blast with the animals and were entertained by Joe!

 

 
 

Next Program.."Fun On a String"

"Fun On a String" Thurs. July 28th, 1:30 PM

"Fun On a String" is a variety show which uses hand puppets, hand-and-rod puppets and marionettes. Audience particiaption is encouraged. Come and see how you can make puppets from everyday household materials. This program is for all ages.

African Clay Mask Workshop

As part of the "One World, Many Stories" summer reading theme, children particapated in making African clay masks and learning an African song and greeting. Their creativity is evident by the fun they had. Check out our budding artists! 

The Lizard Guys

The Lizard Guys- Tues. July 19th, 2:00PM


Children will get an overview of reptiles, amphibians & bugs and show how they differ from us! The audience is introduced to each animal, generally one at a time, by one of The Lizard Guys holding it & explaining where the animal would come from, its normal diet, its life expectancy and answering any other questions . Come see these unusual animals that come from such places as Africa, Australia, and Hoboken!! Space is limited so please arrive early!

Snowflake Craft

Snowflake Mania…Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!
Craft Workshop

Come join us on Wednesday, February 9th, from 4-5 PM to make and decorate snowflakes and bookmarks. Create colorful patterns and geometric shapes with foam and cut paper.
